New Domain - Same Direction

I've officially changed domains. No longer the TastyGamer, this blog is to be known as ControllerCrud. Hopefully I'll be launching a companion piece to this blog in the future. We'll see.

Playing This Weekend: Call of Duty 4, Gears of War (PC)

Two games played this weekend: COD4 & Gears of War. Although, I played through the tutorial of COD the other day, I didn't get a real feel of the single player until Sunday. The story is definitely interesting and the graphics are gorgeous. I'm still on the fence about the gameplay. While the controls are similar (if not identical) to prior iterations of COD, the game plays as if you are in the middle of a war zone. 90% of the time I have no idea if I am shooting a friendly or some evil terrorist. I "get it" but wonder if that will become a frustration later on in the game. It definitely would be a frustration in the hands of the wrong developer.

I installed Gears of War on my new PC and just delved a bit. I caught some slow down and might need to shut off every other program in order play. The graphics, on my rig, are not as good as on the XBOX 360. The gameplay feels exactly the same as on the XBOX (I am using the wireless controller adapter to play). More time will tell.

Playing Today: Rock Band

Played a bit more of Rock Band today. I proved two things: I can't sing and that the headsets are not suitable mics. I also downloaded my first batch of songs. They're a bit pricey but worth it for now.

Playing Today: Call of Duty 4, Rock Band

My first few minutes with Call of Duty 4 were not the most impressive. The controls didn't come back as fast as I would like. I'm sure in due time that all will be just fine.

More time with solo Rock Band maintains its fun. Although, I've been told that the headset mic is not up to snuff for singing.

Playing Today: Rock Band, Lumines

Two games just arrived in the mail: Rock Band and Call of Duty 4. So, I left COD4 on the table and started jamming away on Rock Band. The solo tour mode is less fun than the band experience but still richer and deeper than Guitar Hero III. It is more obvious in your score when you're screwing up. Goes with the territory I guess.

Playing Today: The Orange Box

I picked up The Orange Box again. Having abandoned Half-Life 2 last month, I figured that now would be a great time to try and wrap it all up. It is still amazing how scary this game can be. Ravenholm was especially tough. While I think Condemned is far scarier, Half Life 2 is no slouch.

Ugh.

Sorry folks. Aka the no one that is currently interested in this blog. The semester caught up with me and I fell behind. But now I'm back... for now. :)
